Who we are
Buildr is a collaborator-matching app for builders, founders, creators, designers, developers, and project people who want to find people and projects to work with.

Data we collect
Buildr collects the information needed to create profiles, recommend collaborators, support projects, enable chat, keep users safe, and run the app.

| Discovery and interactions | Likes, passes, super likes, matches, profile visibility settings, paused status, blocked users, reports, and other app activity needed for matching and safety. |

| Subscriptions | Whether you have Buildr Pro and which Pro features are available to your account. Apple handles payment processing, and Buildr does not receive your card details. |

Some profile details you choose to add, such as photos, pronouns, interests, or links, may reveal information about you. You control what you add and can edit or remove most profile content in the app.
How we use your data
- To create, secure, and manage your account.
- To build your profile and show it in discovery according to your visibility settings.
- To recommend people and projects using signals such as skills, interests, location, availability, preferences, and activity.
- To create matches and run real-time chat.
- To send match, message, project, and account notifications when enabled.
- To manage Buildr Pro access and remove ads for Pro subscribers.
- To show ads to users who are not subscribed to Buildr Pro.
- To process reports, blocks, moderation checks, and other safety actions.
- To diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, fix bugs, and improve Buildr.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Legal bases for processing
- Contract: to provide profiles, matching, projects, chat, settings, and subscriptions.
- Consent: for optional permissions such as push notifications, location access, and personalised advertising or tracking where required.
- Legitimate interests: to keep Buildr secure, prevent abuse, improve the app, troubleshoot issues, and understand whether features work well.
- Legal obligation: where we need to retain, disclose, or process information to comply with the law.
Advertising and tracking
Buildr may show ads to users who are not subscribed to Buildr Pro. Ads are supplied through Google AdMob. Depending on your region and device settings, we may ask for advertising consent through Google's consent tools and Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
If you allow tracking, an advertising identifier and related app or ad interaction data may be used to personalise ads and measure performance. If you decline, you may still see ads, but they should be less personalised.
You can change tracking permission in iOS under Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Where available, you can also manage ad privacy choices in Buildr under Settings > Ad Privacy Choices. Subscribing to Buildr Pro removes ads in the app.
How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide Buildr. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise personal data associated with your account, except where limited retention is needed for legal, security, fraud prevention, dispute, backup, or safety reasons.
Reports, block records, moderation records, and abuse-prevention data may be kept where needed to protect users. Crash and diagnostic data is kept only for as long as reasonably needed to troubleshoot and improve the app.
Your rights and controls
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- You can edit most profile and project information directly in the app.
- You can control online status, location visibility, profile visibility, discovery distance, notifications, and paused status in Settings.
- You can download a copy of your account data from Settings > Download My Data.
- You can delete your account from Settings > Delete Account.
- You can manage ad privacy choices in Settings where this option is required or available.
- You can contact hello@buildrwork.com for privacy requests or questions.
If you are unhappy with how your data is handled, you can contact us first. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or to your local EU supervisory authority.
Security
We use technical and organisational safeguards to protect your information, including secure authentication, access controls, encrypted connections, Firebase security features, and platform protections provided by Apple and Google. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to limit access and reduce risk.
Children
Buildr is intended for adults aged 18 and older. You must meet this age requirement to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. If changes are significant, we may also provide notice in the app or by email.
